Charles B. Sawyer papers, 1856-1871.

Account books, leases, and other miscellaneous business papers primarily relating to Charles B. Sawyer's wholesale boot and shoe trade in Chicago (Ill.). The collection contains two account books with invoices (2 volumes., 241 p., 1869-1871) and also includes an 1856 lease by Matthew Laflin to Samuel C. Davis and Matthew Moody for a store at no. 19 in block no. 7 of the Ft. Dearborn Addition on South Water Street in Chicago and a statement of the fire relief given Sawyer's employees from funds donated by Boston after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.The 2 volumes were the gift of C.A. Sawyer (M1923.0258).
